INTERNSHIP POSITIONSJOB DESCRIPTION/POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
RESPONSIBILITIESThe Intern is responsible for handling day to day clerical functions of the Association, including answering the telephone, handling requests for information, mailings, opening and sorting mail, and general upkeep of office. In addition, the Intern will also handle membership requests including continuing education and recruitment and retention marketing efforts.
HOURSThis is a part time position of approximately 15-20 hours per week. Work hours are flexible and will be determined by scheduling and need.
TRAININGThe Intern will receive training on general office procedures, membership recruitment/retention marketing procedures, and the use of office equipment.
SERVICE/TELEPHONE TECHNIQUESPleasant and courteous treatment of all callers and prompt intelligent and complete service is expected of all SCALA staff members. A large percentage of our public and member services are conducted over the telephone. To the person calling, your voice is that of SCALA and your telephone manners may mean the difference between a satisfied caller or a disgruntled one.
CORRESPONDENCEAll inquiries or requests should be answered as soon as possible, within 48 hours. If there is a delay anticipated in order to gather information requested, the request should be acknowledged and noted that the information will be forthcoming as soon as it is available.
No letter or attachment should leave the office without the approval of the Executive Director and a duplicate copy must be on file. If the same letter is sent to several people, only one letter must be kept.
ABSENCES AND TARDINESSPlease be sure to notify the Executive Director as soon as possible if you need to be out or reschedule your hours for another day. We will work with you as much as possible to accommodate changes in your schedule.
